Sri Lanka Navy bade farewell yesterday (Dec 11) to former Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Sujeewa Perera who relinquished his naval duties having been committed to it in the past 35 years.
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva along with Director Generals of the Navy extended best wishes to the retiring officer who celebrated his 55th birthday yesterday, a statement from the Navy said.
Rear Admiral Perera was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. After fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, senior and junior sailors making a street line bade farewell to Rear Admiral Perera who was sent off amidst cheers.
