Navy officials intercepted a shipping vessel off the North-Eastern coast containing 275 kilograms of heroin on board a short while ago.
Five suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the seziure which has been valued at Rs 2 million.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
