Nearly 100 arrested over election related incidents

The number of persons arrested over election complaints and election law violations has risen to 93. According to Police Headquarters, 65 of the arrests are over election law violations while 38 have been arrested over election related complaints lodged with police. 

The number of election related complaints and election law violations has increased to 83. According to Police, 54 are election complaints while 29 incidents of election law violations have also been recorded. 

Regarding election complaints, 23 involve threats and intimidation, while seven complaints regarding assault have also been recorded. 

Police have arrested 38 suspects in connection with 54 election complaints recieved from December 9 up to this morning (5). 

Meanwhile, a further 65 persons have been taken into custody over election law violations. According to Police Headquarters, 49 of the suspects were taken into custody for possession or pasting of election propaganda posters.
