The Neville Fernando hospital in Malabe, which was handed over to the government recently, will commence free treatment services from today August 1 as a teaching hospital under the Ministry of Health, Nutrition, and Indigenous Medicine.
According to the government news portal all the medicines will also be provided free of charge for the patients and the medical supply division had issued necessary drugs to the hospital by last evening.
The hospital comprises of 600 beds. The cabinet of Ministers has also approved Rs. 200 million for the operational expenses of the hospital.
