Major General Jagath Dias has been appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Army with effect from May 7 , Military Spokesman Jayanath Jayaweera said. Currently Major General Dias serves as the Commander of the Mullaitivu Security Forces Headquarters.
Customs have detected 228 mobile phones and tabs valued at over Rs 30 million left behind in the duty free shopping complex at the Banaranaike International Airport today, Customs officials said.
