D.M. Amaratunge, United National Party (UNP) Councillor at North Central Provincial Council (NCPC) was elected as the Chairman of the council following a no confidence motion presented by eleven UNP provincial council members at the NCP Council meeting held today.
Former Chairman T.M.R. Siripala was forced to step down from the post after successful impeachment motion.
A short while later, the official car of the Commander of the Navy, bearing plate NAHA 5006, departed from Navy House, Longdon Place, Colombo 7.
