A special meeting was held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday to apprised the President Maithripala Sirisena regarding the establishment of a new Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, President Media Unit said.
The University of Sri Jayewardenepura has initiated work to establish the Faculty to introduce Professional Education which targets job market.
President Sirisena also commended the project by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura which fulfill the responsibility of a Government by identifying the highest demand in the world job market and uplifting education facilities according to the needs of the country.
Secretary to the President P.B. Abeykoon, Professor Mohan De Silva – the Chairman University Grants Commission and Prof .Sampath Amaratunga- Vice Chancellor to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura were also participated in this event.

The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
