Department of Immigration and Emigration is taking steps to introduce an internationally recognized passport which is on par with the standards of International Civil Aviation Services Organization, the government news portal reported.
According to the Controller of Immigration and Emigration M.N. Ranasinghe, the new passport is to be introduced by the end of 2018. A UK firm, De La Rue, which is situated at Biyagama Export Processing Zone has been chosen to print the new passport, the report claimed.
