Newly appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Nimal Bopage assumed duties yesterday at the Ministry premises.
Bopage holds a LLB from the University of Colombo. He is also a member of Sri Lanka Administrative Service and has a wide experience working in different parts of the country in diverse capacities. Before getting appointed as the Secretary, Bopage has worked as an Assistant Government Agent, Vice Chairman of NITA, Chairman NHRDC, Chairman of VTA, and in several Ministries.
Addressing the gathering the new Secretary said that he supposed, there should be a considerable change in the media proceedings parallel to the past times. He also emphasized the responsibility of the media and the media personnel within their career. The Secretary said, he would discuss with the media a few days later to the duty assumption.
The Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Karunarathne Paranawithana was also present.
