A New Zealand national was arrested in Valhanduwa yesterday (Dec 25) for growing cannabis in pots.
The arrest was carried out by officials of the Organised Crimes Prevention Unit.
According to the Police, the suspect had rented out a room in Senanayake Mawatha at Valhanduwa and had meticulously cultivated the cannabis plants in pots which had grown upto two feet in height at the time of the arrest.
Police had also confiscated a special machine which had been used to supply air and sunlight to facilitate the growth of the plant.
In addition, Police also nabbed 10 grams of cannabis which is reported to have comprised of a chemical substance.
The suspect along with the pots of cannabis have been handed over to the Akmeemana Police for further investigations.
