There is no evidence so far directly linking the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks to the Islamic State (ISIS), Senior DIG in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Terrorism Investigation Department (TID) Ravi Seneviratne told the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) investigating the terror attacks.
He stated that investigations conducted so far had revealed that an ISIS supporter had made a request to the terror group to claim responsibility for the attacks.
While the attacks may not be directly connected to ISIS, those who carried out the attacks had propagated ISIS ideology and so the attacks were likely inspired by ISIS, SDIG Seneviratne told the Committee.
