The Colombo General Hospital has said that there were no incidents of injuries reported due to fireworks this year when compared to the previous Christmas season.
However, officials at the hospital said that 116 individuals were receiving treatment due to accidents at the Accident Ward in the Colombo General Hospital.
Accordingly, 32 individuals sustained injuries due to motor vehicle accidents while 29 were receiving treatment due to injuries sustained by falling. Further, eight individuals were reported to have been injured due to violent acts.
The Colombo General Hospital urged the public to take extra precaution from harming themselves especially during the festive season.
