The Government will not leave room for the emergence of Buddhist monks of the caliber of Talduwe Somarama or Mapitigama Buddharakkthitha , (the two behind the assassination of late Prime Minister S W R D Bandaranaike), Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament yesterday.
The Prime Minister made this comment in reference to the behavior of Galagodatthe Gnanasara Thera who is facing contempt of court charges for his conduct at the Homagama Magistrate Court on Monday.
Mr. Wickremesinghe said every citizen was bound to uphold the law of the land.
“This government would not leave any room for the likes of Somarama or Buddharakkthira again “he said.
He said then behavior of Gnanasara thera was bringing shame on the Buddhists of this country.
