Sri Lanka’s Northern fish vendors have been severely affected by the closure of fish markets in several parts of the country. The North provides a lot of fish to the South, reports Sunday Times Jaffna correspondent N. Parameswaran.
According to Anton Parkunaraja from the Northern Fishermen Association, a large quantity fish has not been distributed. Daily 200 lorries of fish are sent South from the North but this has stopped since last Friday. Families of fishermen and of those in the fish business have been adversely affected due to this crisis.
