Leader of the Opposition R.Sampanthan has said the demise of the veteran Artist Pandit W.D. Amaradeva, who rendered a unique service to the field of Sri Lankan Music, is sad news for all the people of Sri Lanka.
“The demise of Pandit W. D. Amaradeva, who left an indelible mark in the hearts of the thousands of music lovers, is an irreparable loss to the field of music in this country,” the TNA leader said in a condolence message.
He said that the late singer had contributed to the advancement of the music field and played a prominent role as a vocalist, violinist and composer. “His matchless talents enriched the Sinhalese Silver Screen and he had won many local and International key awards and honorary titles” he said.
