Over 2000 police personnel will be deployed in Colombo from tomorrow (Dec 15) onwards in order to ensure security and control traffic during the festive season, Police spokesman S P Ruwan Gunasekara said.
Issuing a press release, the police spokesman said that these police officers would adopt a vigilant approach and will not hesitate to apprehend the individuals who break the law.
He further said that these policemen would be clad in both official and civil attire.
Mr. Gunasekara also urged the public to take extreme precaution when using firecrackers while also warning the public to refrain from allowing small children to handle fireworks.
He also said that measures will be taken to arrest those involved in committing drunk driving offences.
