Over 300 luxury vehicles have been held up at the Colombo port after investigations revealed that they were imported to the country on forged documents or have been under-invoiced.
The Finance Ministry has appointed a committee to decide upon on what action should be initiated regarding the vehicles, a senior officer said.
The committee consists of President’s Secretary Dr P.B.Jayasundara and representatives of the Treasury, Customs and Central Bank.
The option of confiscating the vehicles or imposing penalties is being considered.
