A total of 73,884 persons from 27,974 families in the country have been placed under home-quarantine, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
Four deaths were reported from Ginigathhena, Siyambalape, Colombo 15 and Bandaragama on Tuesday (24) bringing the total number of deaths from COVID-19 to 94.
The total number of cases from the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda fish market cluster increased to 17,436 with 458 persons tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.
DIG Rohana said during the past 24 hours 61 persons have been arrested for violating quarantine rules, especially failing to wear face masks.
He said legal action will be taken against 588 persons who were caught since the end of October for not wearing face masks and failing to maintain social distance.
