Pakistani Major General Hussain Mumtaz visited the Exercise Headquarters of this year’s Cormorant Strike field exercise in Minneriya on the eve of its conclusion yesterday (Sept 22).
Maj. Gen. Mumtaz commands the Special Service Group (SSG) of the Pakistan Army. He was accompanied by the Defence Attaché of the Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka.
This year’s Cormorant Strike event features a mega field training exercise of the tri-forces and is being attended by 2400 Army officers, 400 Sailors, and 200 Airmen along with more than foreign military officers and observers from 10 countries.
Accordingly, the Pakistani Major General met with the Pakistani officers who are taking part in the event.
The Sri Lanka Army Headquarters said that Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Russia, Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria and Zambia are among the observer countries at the event which has been organised for the tenth time.
