The Defence Secretary of Pakistan, Lieutenant General (R) Ikram Ul Haq met the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Mr. Kapila Waidyaratne PC at the Defence Ministry yesterday.
A cordial discussion was held between the two Defence Secretaries on matters of bilateral importance and mutual cooperation during the meeting.
During the discussion with his counterpart, Pakistan’s Defence secretary expressed his complete support to Sri Lanka in her quest for national security and assured Pakistan’s unconditional strategic cooperation for the same, according to a statement issued by Pakistan High Commission in Colombo.
The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Dr. Shahid Ahmad Hashmat and Defence Ministry officials were also present at the occasion.
The Pakistan’s Defence Secretary is in the island leading a high-level delegation for the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Armed Forces Defence Dialogue. The dialogue is held with the aim to promote professional and mutually beneficial relations between the Armed Forces of the two countries.
