Parliament today approved the appointment of members for its Committee of Selection, which will function under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
The 12 names nominated to the Committee is comprised of seven Government and five Opposition MPs.
The Government's Members are Nimal Siripala De Silva, Dinesh Gunawardena, Johnston Fernando, Douglas Devananda, Dullas Alahapperuma, Wimal Weerawansa and Prasanna Ranatunge.
The Opposition Members in the Committee are Lakshman Kiriella, Gayantha Karunatilleka, Rauff Hakeem, Vijitha Herath and Selvam Adaikkalanathan.
The Committee of Selection nominates members to other important Parliamentary Committees such as the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) and the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA).
