A Parliament staffer was taken into custody over allegedly maintaining links with the National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) group yesterday (May 19).
The employee, attached to the Parliament's Hansard Department, was arrested in Kurunegala by the Police.
The arrest was carried out upon a tip-off concerning the involvement of the suspect in several activities of the NTJ group which has been banned since the Easter Sunday attacks.
The Secretary-General of Parliament has been informed by the Police on the employee's arrest.
