Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena today (11) announced the names of MPs who will serve on the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) and the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) of the Ninth Parliament.
The 22-member COPE will have 14 MPs from the government and eight from the opposition. The members nominated to COPE are Mahinda Amaraweera, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Rohitha Abegunawardhana, Susil Premajayantha, Jayantha Samaraweera, Dilum Amunugama, Indika Anurudhdha Herath, Sarath Weerasekara, D. V Chanaka, Dr Nalaka Godahewa, Ajith Nivard Cabral, Rauff Hakeem, Anura Dissanayaka, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Jagath Pushpakumara, Eran Wickramarathne, Ranjan Ramanayake, Nalin Bandara Jayamaha, S.M. Marikkar, Premnath C. Dolawatte, Shanakiyan Rajaputhrian Rasamanickam and Prof. Charitha Herath.
Members of the 22-member COPA are Udaya Gammanpila, Duminda Dissanayake, Dayasiri Jayasekera, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Dr Sudarshini Fernandopulle, Shehan Semasinghe, Prasanna Ranaweera, Tissa Attanayake, Prof Tissa Vitarana, Harin Fernando, Niroshan Perera, Faizal Cassim, Ashok Abeysinghe, Buddhika Pathirana, K. Kader Masthan, Sivagnanam Sritharan, Dr Upul Galappatti, BYG Rathnasekera, Weerasumana Dissanayake, Prof Ranjith Bandara, Mohomad Muzammil and Dr Harini Amarasuriya.
The committee members will meet during the next parliament sitting week and elect the chairpersons of their respective committees from among themselves.
