Speaker Karu Jayasuriya told Parliament yesterday that he is yet to be informed of the decision of the Court of Appel ruling pertaining to the parliamentary seat of Galle district MP Geetha Kumarasinghe.
The Speaker said that he had not yet been appraised by the court of its determination and once that reaches him, a decision would be made regarding on the follow up action.
The Speaker’s remarks came after UNP MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha noted that MP Geetha Kumarasinghe was present in the House despite the court ruling.
Court of Appeal ruled on Wednesday that Kumarasinghe was disqualified to be a Member of Parliament as she holds dual citizenship.
