The debate on the proposal to appoint a Constitutional Assembly to draft a new Constitution will be considered by Parliament today by party leaders.
On January 9, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe presented a resolution for the establishment of a Constitutional Assembly composed of all MPs for the purpose of drafting a new constitution. However, the opposition suggested that the process should go through a Parliamentary Select Committee.
