The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) has issued summons on Health Ministry Senior Assistant Secretary (Procurement) Rohana de Silva to produce a witness statement in an alleged State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) fraud case.
This was following a complaint filed by the Small and Medium Enterprise Association at the PCoI probing state sector corruption between 2015 and 2018 against the SPC over some of its alleged fraudulent activities.
An inquiry on the complaint will commence on March 25, the PCoI noted adding that this would be the first inquiry after its deadline to accept complaints came to a close on March 19.
A team of lawyers comprising Senior President's Counsels of the Attorney General's Department, and several other lawyers are expected to appear on behalf of the government during this inquiry.
Further, the complaint filed against the Ministry of Economic Development over an alleged fraud that had occurred while importing 30 diary heifers in late 2014, will also be taken up for an inquiry on March 25.
