Four persons whose names had been used to allegedly prepare fake land deeds by Minister Rishad Bathiudeen appeared before the Presidential Commission probing state sector corruption today (Jun 17).
A complaint had been filed by Ven Thiniyawala Palitha Thera against Minister Bathiudeen claiming that he had allocated 4000 acres of a state owned land in Mannar to construct houses for war-displaced persons by preparing fake land deeds.
The monk in his complaint had alleged that these names were those of the residents who had been living on these lands before they were forced to abandon their houses druing the war, a Commission source said.
Accordingly, the Presidential Commission probing allegations of state sector corruption between January 15, 2015 - December 31, 2018 is currently conducting preliminary investigations on the case.
