Sri Lanka’s largest fish market in Peliyagoda has been temporarily shut down after 49 persons working inside the market tested positive for COVID-19, the Fisheries Ministry confirmed today.
The new positive cases were identified today after the regional health officials carried out PCR tests among the traders and those who work inside the market.
The Ministry urged the fisheries workers to ensure their security by taking COVID-19 health precautionary measures as new cases are being identified across the country daily basis in addition to the Brandix- Minuwangoda cluster which saw over 2000 workers attached to garment factory contracted the virus over the last few weeks.
