The pension anomalies of public servants who retired before December 31, 2015 will be revised and addressd from next month, the Finance Ministry said in a press release.
Public servants who retired before 2016 were being granted pensions in line with Circular 05/2015 which was void of salary amendments.
Pension amendments until 2020 had been planned out under Circular 03/2016 issued by the Public Administration Ministry. However, employees who had retired after January 1, 2016 were only entitled to receive this pension.
Due to this reason, a proposal was included in this year’s budget to increase the basic salaries of public servants who had retired before 2016 after serving for 25 years.
Accordingly, the salaries of public servants will be increased between Rs 2800 and Rs 20,000 from July 1 onwards.
