The Court of Appeal today (Jan 07) dismissed the writ petition filed against the mental health of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The petition against the President was filed by Thakshila Lakmali, a resident of Colombo 12, following a series of remarks that created suspicion on the President’s mental health condition.
The Appeal Court also ordered the petitioner to pay a sum of Rs 100,000 as legal fees to the government.
On Jan 03, an intervening petition was filed by the former General Secretary of the SLFP, Mahinda Amaraweera requesting the Appeal Court to dismiss the case during the first hearing.
