The cabinet of ministers has approved the refurbishment of the Dutch Museum Building in Pettah which will take place at a cost of Rs 97.26 million.
The building which is currently 350 years old had once been used as the official residence of the Dutch Governor. It has now become a centre of attraction for both locals and foreign tourists.
Accordingly, Minister Sajith Premadasa yesterday (May 08) put forward a cabinet proposal outlining the repairs and the need to refurbish the building.
The cabinet after having considered the proposal had granted permission for the implementation of the project.
