Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a special three-member committee to probe the recent remarks of State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake on the Maha Sangha.
The committee would be headed by Minister Thilak Marapana, and would comprise Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara, and Malik Samarawickrama, the Prime Minister’s office said.
Ramanayake, in a social media interview, had alleged that young monks were being abused by the Maha Sangha at temples. The remark drew heavy criticism for several parties including the Prime Minister.
