The Maldivian state delegation which is touring Sri Lanka was hosted to a dinner banquet by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees today (Jun 16).
Maldivian Vice President Faizal Cassim, Speaker Mohamed Nasheed, several ministers and parliamentarians from the ruling Maldivian Demoratic Party (MDP) formed the visiting delegation.
During their visit, the state officials had observed that Sri Lanka was a peaceful and safe country for foreign tourists to travel, the Prime Minister's office said. They had also stated that the motive of their visit was to show the world that the island was safe to travel.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinge had thanked the delegation for accepting his invitation to visit the country. He had pointed out that the visit was a testimony to the friendship between both countries.
