Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today (May 04) re-established the Divisional Security Council in the Western Province as a part of the security measures which are being taken in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in the country.
A special event had been organised at Temple Trees to mark the re-establishment of this Council. Several Ministers, Divisional Secretaries and Security Forces were present at the event. The Council was operational during the war and has been inactive therafter.
The Divisional Security Council will function under the Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government Ministry and would be tasked with devising security plans for their respective areas in collaboration with the Civil Security Committees.
These Councils will be re-established across all regions in the country.
