Police arrested 57 persons during mass raids on 25 brothels in Colombo that were operating under the guise of spas.
Police Media Unit stated that acting on search warrants, police stations in Colombo searched 35 spas on information that they a large number of these spas were a front for prostitution.
The search found that 25 of these so-called spas were actually brothels and were operating in the Borella, Wellawatta, Kirulapana, Bambalapitiya, Narahenpita, Grandpass, Maradana and Thalangama areas. The 57 suspects who were arrested have been produced before courts falling under those police divisions.
Police said such raids would continue.
