Police have apprehended individuals engaged in an illegal game meat business where wild stag deer in the Wanathawilluwa area were being killed.
Two individuals engaged in separate illegal operations were arrested by the Police today (March 15).
On a tip-off regarding the killing of wild animals in the Wanathawilluwa area, Police launched a search operation and apprehended one individual at a house where the stag were being slaughtered.
Following further investigations, the Police were able to arrest a second suspect who was in the midst of transporting 5 kilos of game meat at the time of his arrest.
According to Police both suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Puttalam Magistrates Court.
