At least 50 persons were arrested this month alone in Jaffna over recent sword attack incidents and other gang violence incidents reported in the region, police said.
The suspects, majority of them are youths are from Chunnakam, Manipay, Kopay were taken into custody during a police search operation launched by police recently.
Earlier police said they have received complaints from public that notorious gangs named 'Aava, Victor, Dhanu Rock' were involved in many gang clashes and damaged private properties over personal issues.
