Police Commission Secretary Saman Dissanayake has filed an anticipatory bail application yesterday (July 8) in the event of a possible arrest over the Avant Garde illegal floating armoury case.
The application had been filed at the Colombo Magistrate's Court by citing that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) may arrest him during their ongoing probe into the case.
At present, the CID is investigating into the 813 automatic firearms and 200,945 rounds of ammunition which were discovered in the floating armoury.
Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake had instructed the CID to appear before court on July 15 to make their submissions on the bail application.
