Akmeemana Police today (Nov 19) discovered bodies of a mother and a father who were murdered by their own son who had hidden the remains in the backyard of the house.
The victims were identified as 61-year old Arachchige Chandrapala and 58-year old Priyanthi Mallika.
Yesterday, Police had questioned the son following a tip-off which stated that he had beaten his parents.
However, the suspect had said that his parents had not returned home from work following which the police had decided to search the house.
The suspect had later gone on to confess that he had murdered his parents.
He is now under the custody of the Akmeemana Police.
