Police fire tear gas, water canons to disperse IUSF protestors

News

Police have fired tear gas and water canons to disperse Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) protestors a short while ago.

The road from the Kollupitiya Junction until Galle Road had been closed as a result of this protest, police said.

Heavy traffic congestion had been reported along Galle Road this evening.

The protest had been launched urging the government to stop the privatisation of education.
