The Police have launched a countrywide campaign to check activities that cause harm to the environment.
Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said the exercise had been launched in keeping with a directive issued by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Under this programme, police officers will be deployed to prevent any activity that affect the environment. They will also educate the public on the consequences of such activities.
Meanwhile, the Police Environment Protection Division is also expected to undergo structural changes in the coming days, Times Online learns.
