Police launched a search to arrest a former Pradeshiya Sabha member and his driver over the alleged staged shooting incident targetting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) Sameera Senaratne early last month.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr Senaratne had been in constant touch with the two individuals before and after the shooting incident took place. Police Spokesperson DIG Priyantha Jayakody said that search warrant issued after the police has analyzed the call records of the suspects and former CEO of SAITM.
The incident occurred on the night of February 6. Mr Senaratne at the time, claimed two men wearing full-face helmets opened fire on his car while he was on his way home from work.
