Former Western Province DIG Nandana Munasinghe has been questioned yesterday (July 8) by the Police Special Investigations Unit for more than five hours over the recent terrorist attacks, police sources said.
Munasinghe had been serving as the DIG of the Western Province at the time of the Easter Sunday bombings. He had been susequently transferred to the North-Western Province.
The Special Investigation Committee which was appointed to probe into the terrorist attacks had recommended disciplinary action against nine police officers including three DIG's.
This was in addition to the arrest of the former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara, as recommended in the Commission's report.
