Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara has refuted reports claiming that suspected suicide bomber Zahran Cassim had not been killed in the recent terror attacks.
He told the press yesterday (May 05) that CCTV footage along with information received on the suspected suicide bomber had reveled that Cassim committed suicide at the Shangri-La hotel.
However, Superintendent Gunasekara said that a DNA test will be carried out on his body parts to further confirm the identity of the suspect.
These DNA samples will be matched with the samples obtained from Cassim's brothers identified as Rilwan and Zaini who had committed suicide at a safehouse in Saindhamarudhu.
A DNA sample wil also be obtained from the daughter of Zahran’s daughter who is being treated at the Ampara hospital.
