Police have seized a motor vehicle belonging to the mistress of drug kingpin 'Makandure Madush' who has been arrested in Dubai.
Padukka police said that the vehicle was seized during a search operation carried out yesterday (Feb 08) under the directives of IGP Pujith Jayasundara. Two suspects who were close relatives of Madush's mistress were also arrested during the search.
The mistress of Madush is reported to be a close associate of underworld member identified as 'Kalu Thushara'.
Following a questioning on both suspects, it was revealed that one of the two suspects had met with Madush in Dubai last month.
Meanwhile, inspection raids were carried out on the residences of six suspects who have been arrested along with Makandure Madush in Dubai.
Accordingly, police discovered eight army uniforms at the residence of Anushka Kaveeshal alias 'Janga' who has also been arrested along with Madush.
Police also discovered 32 rounds of ammunition used in T-56 guns, 38 bullet pouches and three unregistered motorcycles.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
