Police will launch a special operation from tomorrow (17) to identify vehicles that are parked illegally or on pavements, DIG Ajith Rohana stated, adding that legal action will be taken against motorists of such vehicles.
He warned that police would tow away any vehicles parked blocking roads or on pavements. Motorists of such vehicles will have to pay the towing charges of their vehicles, he added.
The DIG said the operation is being carried out as road accidents have been reported due to vehicles being parked in 'no parking' areas and on pavements.
Those found guilty by courts for parking vehicles illegally can be fined up to Rs 50, 000, he further said.
