A seven-day detention order will be sought from court for three members of the banned Jamathei Millathu Ibrahim (JMI) group who were arrested in Ampara yesterday (Aug 5), police said.
The suspects are due to be produced before court today.
Police said the suspects had received firearms training along with Easter Sunday attacks mastermind Mohamed Zahran in training camps at Nuwara Eliya and Hambantota.
The suspects have been identified as M.M. Saifullah Haq alias 'Abu Saheed', M.A. Amhar alias 'Abu Hind' and a South Eastern university student M.T. Hidayathullah alias 'Abu Thurab'. They are residents of Gelioya and Mawanella.
Meanwhile, steps are being taken to handover two JMI members identified as a provincial leader of the banned group and a South Eastern university student, to the Terrorist Investigation Division for further investigations.
