The Elections Commission (EC) today (Jun 03) told court that the polls court be held without a delimitation report if a court order is issued to conduct the elections.
This was announced when petitions filed against the polls body over the delay in conducting the elections for the Northern and Sabaragamuwa Provinces were taken up for hearing today.
These petitions had been filed by the former Chief Ministers of both Provinces and is being heard before Justices Yasantha Kodagoda and Arjuna Obeysekera.
President's Counsel Uditha Ihalahewa appeared on behalf of the Elections Commission which has been named as a respondent to the petition.
