Postal unions which are on a two-day strike had refused to meet with Minister Abdul Haleem to protest over a security arrangement, yesterday (Jul 17).
Unionists who are on strike since Tuesday were expected to meet the Posts Minister last evening, but had protested against the decision to deploy additional security to the Central Mail Exchange since the strike began earlier this week.
Postal unions had launched a strike by citing several inconveniences faced by employees due to the recruitment procedure which was introduced in line with the Public Administration Circular No.06/2006 on salaries of public servants.
