A power failure has been reported from several areas, including Tangalle, Beliatta, Middeniya, Walasmulla, Suriyawewa and Hakmana.
The power failure has allegedly occurred after trees brought down by strong winds damaged power lines in these areas.
Work on restoring power is currently ongoing.
